Personal Tutoring -
We recognize that for most students, classroom teaching is not the best form of education. Our tutors are students who have excelled in the subject they are tutoring and have experience helping their peers. Our tutors will come to your home and spend one-on-one time with your student, enabling him/her to command tough material and exceed his/her own expectations.
What our tutors will do for you:
- Tutor any subject taught in middle or high school
- Work with your schedule
- Come to your house
- Make the material interesting and exciting
- Convey new material to help your student get ahead
Tutoring sessions can be bought in packages of one hour or more. At this time we only accept personal checks. All payments must be made in advance of the actual tutoring sessions. Please note there is a $35 fee for returned checks. Below is the breakdown of our pricing:

SAT/PSAT Private Tutoring -
Achieving a superior score on the SAT is necessary for any college bound student. Students must be able to score highly on all three sections, regardless of their strengths and weaknesses. All of our SAT tutors are University of Maryland Gemstone students who have scored no less than a 2100 on the test and managed high scores on all three sections. Our tutors know how to prepare for the test effectively and efficiently, and will help your child beat the SAT.
Most parents and students don't recognize the importance of the PSAT. Although it does not show up on college applications, it is the key to much grant money to finance four years at university. Structured similarly to the SAT, the PSAT is taken by sophomores in high school and is a great indicator of a student's preparation for the SAT and for college admissions. Our tutors will enable your child to do their absolute best on this exam, and open up new avenues for parents to pay for a college education.

College Applications Advising -
The Fall of a student's senior year can be an incredibly stressful time. Not only are tough classes time taxing, but multiple college applications can add the equivalent of an extra class to one's workload. Fortunately, Peer Advantage Tutors is here to walk you through the process. Our advisors - all members of the University of Maryland's prestigious Gemstone program - will sit down and talk with your student about their high school career and long term goals. Our advisors will then help your future grad carefully craft their applications, all the way from the brag sheet right down to the short answer questions.
No matter what school you student is aiming for, our advisors will make him look his best on the documents that will affect the rest of his life. Grades may already be determined, but how your student frames his extracurricular life in high school and the power of his personal essay can make the difference between an acceptance and rejection. Our tutors know this, and will ensure that admissions officer see your child for the fantastic person he is - one that any college would want.

Internet-Based Applications Advising -
Peer Advantage Tutors recognizes that not all students have time during the day to dedicate to personal consultations on college applications. As such, Peer Advantage Tutors offers internet-based advising that fits any schedule. Students can email their personal advisor drafts of essays, brag sheets, or even a whole application any time, day or night, and get edits and comments back within 48 hours. All our advisors are University of Maryland Gemstone students who have recently gone through the admissions process and understand what an excellent application looks like.
